PUP for Branch, Tubbs

Wide receiver Deion Branch and defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs will be placed on the physical unable to perform (or PUP) list when the Seahawks open training camp practices Friday morning.

Not surprising, considering that Branch had reconstructive knee surgery in January and Tubbs has had major surgery on each of his knees the past two years.

Linebacker Will Herring also could end up on PUP, but his status still is being debated.

Going on PUP does not mean that the players are out for the season. It means they didn't pass their pre-camp physical and won't practice until they do.

Is there an estimated timeframe for return on either player? How does each of them going on the PUP list affect the roster when players need to be released when the remaining holdouts sign?

Players placed on PUP count against the 80-man roster. So two players will have to be released when draft picks Red Bryant and Owen Schmitt sign the contract they already have agreed to. And when top picks Lawrence Jackson and John Carlson sign, other players also will be released.

There is no firm timeframe for either Branch or Tubbs to return. They will continue their rehabs and practice only when able to pass a physical -- and then on a limited basis at the start.

Anyone counting on Branch this year is dreaming. Even if he does return to the field, everyone knows this is a 2 year return to pre-injury ability, especially when you count on quickness the way Branch does. The west coast offense is the best offense to be in if you don't have a go to guy at receiver. Coach has proven many times, at Green Bay and Seattle that he can make the offense go without top 10 receivers.

One or more of the guys will step up!

Is it time to give up on Tubbs? I would say so. Can we say release?

Seneca Wallace needs to play WR.

The Seahawks will also have to pick up a LB, and maybe an OL, on the wire. Kirtman is gone. Think Holmgren will break with Ruskell asd release Duckett?

Tubbs, Bernard, Mebane, and Bryant would be Hawks best DTs vs the run. Tubbs will be fully recovered before the start of the season and a constant rotation should keep him fresh. He should return to the 2-gap beast with the burst he was in '05.

What ever it is, I am ready to start the season right now!!! Seattle has some great players just waiting for a chance to shine, and shine they will in about six more weeks.

Larry Triplett is the safety net for Tubbs, if he doesn't look like he's going to make it back this season he;s gone and Triplett is in. If Tubbs comes out strong Triplett may not make the team, I like both guys so I;m not worried about it.

Why are people talking about cutting Duckett???? A guy his size who runs well enough not to get pigeon holed into strictly fullback duties are RARE. Dude will be an awesome change of pace battering ram, he's got a 4 yard average almost 5 last year.

Drop Charlie Frye, Trade for Brett Favre, move Seneca to WR as a backup/speed threat as a replacement for Branch. Not that it's gonna happen, but would be cool.
