Cheaper car rental

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER NEWS SERVICES

Looking for a good deal on a rental car in Europe this summer? If you plan to stay 17 days or more, contact Renault Eurodrive. Its cars are new and tax free. (Taxes can be as high as 20 percent elsewhere.)

Renault Eurodrive has free pickups and returns at numerous locations in France. For deliveries or drop-offs to or from any one of its 15 locations throughout Western Europe, the cost is $50 to $175.

Insurance is included, an important feature, particularly since people who are accustomed to paying for car rentals with their credit cards often do not read the fine print to find out exactly what is covered in Europe. Many credit-card companies only cover insurance for a limited number of weeks, for example, and it is often difficult to file accident claims.

In Italy and Ireland, car-rental companies don't even accept insurance from credit-card companies.

Rates begin at $480 to rent a Twingo, a zippy little car, for 17 days with Renault Eurodrive.

For more information or reservations, contact Renault Eurodrive at 800-221-1052.
