Winter snowpack gradually pulling back

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER
The mega-snowpack from last winter is gradually yet surely melting back, now ranging around 4,000 feet and gone enough for several campgrounds to open up.
Last week, gates were removed from a few roads in the Lake Wenatchee district of the Wenatchee National Forest. That allowed access to campgrounds up the Chiwawa River Road such as Deer and Goose Creek.
Also, Forest Service crews should have popular Salmon La Sac, Crystal Springs and part of Lake Kachess campgrounds open by this weekend (call the Cle Elum ranger station for updates, 509-674-4411).
