Seattle parks
  • Camp Long, Jan. 17, "Winter Wonderland," and March 21, "Search for Salamanders"; both 2 p.m. Call 206-684-7434 on week of walk to register.

  • Seward Park, bird walks guided by an Audubon Society birder, Feb. 14 and March 14, 8-10 a.m., meet at Seward Park ceramics studio. Call 206-684-7434 on week of walk to register; must be at least 10 years old.

  • Discovery Park, every Saturday, 2 p.m., free, but space is limited and registration required. Walks for Tots (2- to 4-year-olds), every Tuesday, 10 a.m., $3, advance registration required. 206-386-4236.

  • Green Lake, free bird walks guided by Green Lake Park Alliance members on the first and third Saturdays of each month through April, 8 a.m., two hours. Meet at East Beach near Evans Pool. 206-689-6266.

  • Carkeek Park, free walks planned in March, but not yet scheduled. 206-684-0877.

Tacoma parks
  • Snake Lake Nature Center, guided walks on Feb. 13 ("Full Moon Walk," 7:30 p.m.), Feb. 21, ("Super Scavenger Hunt," 1 p.m.) and March 28 ("Marsh Madness," 10 a.m.), $6 per person, $10 per family. Call 253-591-6439 to register.

Everett parks
  • Ranger-led beach and forest group walks, beginning in March, by appointment only, at Forest Park, Howarth Park and Langus Riverfront Park. $1.50 per person, with a $15 minimum and a maximum of 24 people. Call Craig Hanson, after March 1, 425-257-8300.
