City Pass a low-cost way to visit top sites in Seattle and other cities

POST-INTELLIGENCER NEWS SERVICES

Every city has its major attractions, but many people -- locals included -- avoid seeing them because of cost. Now there is City Pass, a cost-cutting way to see six top attractions in Seattle, Boston and New York and seven in San Francisco.

The tickets, sold in a booklet, are for admission to the most-visited cultural and entertainment attractions in each city. The plan was introduced in Seattle and San Francisco last year and proved popular. This month, Boston and New York also got the packages.

Prices vary by city, but are 50 percent less than regular prices. Purchase the ticket booklets at the main entrance of any participating attraction.

The Seattle sites are the Space Needle, Museum of Flight, Woodland Park Zoo, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Aquarium. The cost: adults $23.75, seniors 65 and older $19.25, youths 6-13 $15.

In New York, the pass is good for the Empire State Building, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Top of the World Trade Center, American Museum of Natural History and Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum. The cost: adults $26.75, seniors $18, youths 13-18 $21.

In Boston, the sites are the John F. Kennedy Library, NewEngland Aquarium, John Hancock Observatory, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts and Museum of Science. The cost: adults $26.50, seniors 65 and older $20.50 and youths 12-17 $13.50.

In San Francisco, the attractions are the California Academy of Sciences, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Exploratorium, M.H. deYoung Memorial Museum, San Francisco Bay Cruise, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and San Francisco Zoo. The cost: adults $29.95, seniors $19.95 and youths 12-17 $17.95.
