Agua Verde Paddle Club -- Kayak rentals. 206-545-8570, Boat Street and Brooklyn Ave. (southwest University of Washington campus).

Green Lake Small Craft Center (Seattle Parks and Receation) -- Classes on rowing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. No rentals. 206-684-4074; southwest end of lake.

Green Lake Boat Rentals -- Rentais for rowboats, sailboats, canoes, sailboards 206-527-0171; northeast corner of lake.

Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center (Seattle Parks and Recreation) Classes on rowing, sailing, canoeng, kayaking. No rentals. 206-386-1913, just north of Seward Park, 3800 Lake Washington Blvd.

University of Washington Waterfront Actilvities Center -- Rentals of canoes and rowboats. 206-543-9433; southwest corner of Husky Stadium parking lot.

Wind Works Sailing Center (two locations) -- Shilshole: Sailboats 25 feet and larger 206-784-9386; 7001 Seaview Ave. N.W. And Lake Union: Sailboats 14 to 24 feet. 206-720-9867; 2370 Fairview Ave. E.

Bainbridge Island Boat -- Kayak, rowboat, canoe and swan boat rentals. 206-842-9229.

Vashon Island Kayak -- Rentals, classes, tours. 206-463-9257.

Public hand-launch sites

Lake Washington: Atlantic City (Rainier Beach), Seward Park at Ferdinand Street Stan Sayres Park, Day Street (underneath l-90 bridge south of Leschi), Leschi (low dock currently beng renovated).

Lake Union: Northlake Way/Sunnyside Avenue, South Passage Point Park ZymoGenetics dock, Yale Street Landing, Terry Pettus Park.

Ballard: Foot of 14th Avenue Northwest, foot of 24th Avenue Northwest.

Eastside: Enatai Beach Park (Mercer Slough), Houghton Beach (ramp) in Kirkland.
