Out-of-control bureaucrats and agencies need reining in

THE POWER TO HARM Many kudos to the Seattle P-I for the courage and fortitude to publish a series with many disturbing thoughts, charges and theories. Although it is possible that Bob Perez is motivated by the willingness to do right and go after the bad guys, I believed, four years ago that he was a cop with a feeling of power and the thought that he was on a mission from God.

The series of articles published by the P-I has pointed out just how severe the problem of bureaucrats out of control has become. Perez exemplifies a cop run amok, while CPS has shown itself to be an agency out of control. It has been long assumed that CPS is an agency with no direction, but with an agenda to further its own proclivity toward an assumption that it alone knows what is right for children. In the meantime, it appears to have no problem with destroying families, relationships between parents and children, as well as ignoring facts that may be contrary to the agency's own beliefs.

I have a close friend who was subjected to the wrath of CPS. After being accused of sexual improprieties by the baby sitter of his child, he was forbidden to have any contact with his daughter while an investigation ensued. After many slanted questions were asked by CPS counselors, the child's physician as well as officials from the county prosecutors office, no charges were brought against the father.

The problem is, with all the injustice documented by the P-I, there appears to be no avenue for justice for those who have been tainted, jailed, convicted and imprisoned by a system that has shown itself to be corrupt, from the cop who supposedly did a thorough investigation all the way to the supposedly impartial judge who presided over the trials of the unfortunates.

Short of an outcry to the governor's office, it appears that those people are doomed to live their lives with the stigma of innuendo.
